Cyclone "Vayu" to hit Gujarat coast in India

Cyclone named "Vayu" to hit Gujarat coast and bring heavy rainfall and winds at the speed of 110 kmph to Saurashtra and Kutch on June 13th and 14th according to India Meteorological Department (IMD). The cyclone is likely to move north-northwest along the west coast. It will cause heavy rainfall in coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Konkan and Goa and heavy to very heavy rainfall in Saurashtra region.
A deep depression in south Arabian Sea intensified into cyclonic storm which is intensifying rapidly and is likely to strike Saurashtra and Mahuva around Verala and Diu as a severe cyclonic storm by late night of June 12 or early morning of June 13. Porbandar, Veraval, Jamnagar, Dwarka, Junagarh and Okha can face devastating winds.
While Mumbai will escape the fury of the cyclone, it will still see good rains and high velocity winds. Sea conditions are also likely to be rough or very rough along the Maharashtra coast. Due to change in wind direction, dust storm and thunder storm activities will be seen in some parts of Rajasthan on June 11.
Rajasthan which was experiencing severe heat wave conditions where on June 10, the temperature of Churu was recorded above 50 degrees Celsius, due to this cyclonic storm, Rajasthan is expected to get thundershowers by June 12 and 13 leading to a minor drop in temperature over the region.
